The PCRN is dedicated to advancing high-impact research in perioperative care, with a focus on clinical trials and statistical methodology. Aligned with the Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Canada Consortium, our research strategies aim to accelerate, optimize, and translate the results of randomized controlled trials to improve health outcomes globally.
The Network adopts a dynamic and collaborative approach to setting research priorities, ensuring flexibility to address emerging trends and challenges. We engage diverse stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and patients, to inform the prioritization of research topics through mechanisms like expert panels, stakeholder consultations, and public involvement. These strategies ensure our research efforts are responsive to real-world needs and contribute to global initiatives.
To support impactful research, the PCRN has established a comprehensive grant review process. This includes both internal peer reviews and endorsements of funding applications, encouraging collaboration and increasing participation in funding competitions, particularly those associated with the ACT Consortium. Through these efforts, the Network fosters a collaborative environment that strengthens research initiatives and drives innovation in perioperative care.
